What is the difference between AFCI and GFCI

What do AFCI do?
An AFCI (Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter), detects dangerous arcing faults that could lead to electrical fires. It monitors the circuit for signs of arcing and cuts off the power if detected. Homeline arc fault breakers are examples of AFCIs that provide essential fire protection by preventing potential ignition from electrical faults.
What Does a GFCI Do?
A GFCI (Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter), often referred to as an AFCI GFCI outlet when combining features, prevents electrical shocks by monitoring current flow. If it detects a ground fault—an imbalance indicating leakage of current to the ground—it immediately disconnects the power. This is critical in wet areas where the risk of electric shock is higher.
What’s the difference AFCI VS GFCI?
The key difference is AFCI Protects against electrical fires by interrupting arcing faults. An AFCI breaker is a device designed for this purpose. An GFCI guards against electric shocks by detecting
