What is the type B RCD application?
TIME:
2024/08/23
Power inverters in PV solar system and new energy storage batteries can generate DC fault currents that common protection device might not detect. So type B circuit breaker RCCB could detect all types of fault current and offer leakage protection for DC residual current.
EV charging station
During the charging of electric vehicles EV, power electronic devices can generate DC fault currents and leakage currents. These currents are caused by the line filters of the charging electronics in the electric vehicle charging station or the electric vehicle itself. According to standards, electric vehicle charging stations generally require RCDs capable of detecting DC fault currents.
Heat/Cooling System
HVAC-Heating-Air-Conditioning-Ventilation
Heat pump/HVAC systems, cooling system and similar applications typically use high-power, frequency-controlled three-phase motors, where DC or high-frequency fault currents would happen. Type B RCDs can detect and trip in time
